An excellent harvest in 2024
The harvest of Limniona, the red variety that in recent years has stolen the hearts of consumers both in Greece and abroad, was completed with great success, marking a milestone year for Ktima Zafeirakis.
With 35 years of dedication to the cultivation and promotion of this special variety of Tyrnavos, Ktima Zafeirakis considers 2024 as the best year in the history of Limniona.
Christos Zafeirakis, when he returned from his studies abroad, recognized the importance of Limniona and with passion and vision, undertook the revival of this forgotten variety. Through exceptional and different vinifications, he brought it back to the forefront of the Greek wine scene, while at the same time, he established it as one of the most important Greek varieties on an international level.

Devotion to Perfection
This fact is no coincidence as Ktima Zafeirakis has devoted years of study and recording, exploring every aspect of the variety, from the way it is cultivated to the special characteristics it gives to the wine.
This in-depth knowledge has allowed him to create an impressive range of wines from Limniona, utilizing the different vineyards and winemaking techniques to showcase its diversity and potential.
Organic and Biodynamic Cultivation
At the same time, respecting the nature and authenticity of Limniona, Ktima Zafeirakis has adopted organic and biodynamic farming. Through systematic planting of the variety over a number of years, it is able to produce wines with a distinctive character.
It is precisely this approach that allows the grapes to express in the purest way the terroir of Tyrnavos, creating wines with unique character and intense personality.
Wines such as Limniona Young Vineyards, Limniona Terracotta, the classic Limniona as well as Limniona Rosé, are the most striking proof of the above.

Limniona: The Red Diamond from Tyrnavos
The history of Limniona dates back to the 19th century, when the first references to this red variety from Tyrnavos appeared in texts written by foreign visitors.
In particular, the first references to the variety appear in 1870. At that time, foreign visitors referred to the red wines of Tyrnavos from the Limniona variety, which were fermented in the cellars of the Tyrnavites in 2000 or 3000 litre wooden barrels.
A few decades later, an official State document of 1931 mentions the Limniona variety as one of the many that were grown in the area of Tyrnavos.
